I am interested in theater and the music industry if that narrows down the topic at all.

  1. There are excellent venues in London - check out Cadogan Hall and Prince Albert Hall - and if you get a chance, don't miss the Proms - the atmosphere is wonderful! The Royal Opera is a lovely building to tour, and don't miss anything going on in Covent Garden.  I notice also that there are some great productions on in the West End.   I usually go several times a year (my sons both live there) but haven't been lately due to health reasons.  Don't miss The Eye - and the usual tourist attractions - London Tower, St. Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, and of course the changing of the guards at Buckingham.  It's a great city!

  2. For the theatre then Stratford-upon-Avon is your best bet for any Shakespear plays.  London's West End for Musicals.

Outside of your criteria, then Stonehenge in Sailsbury, Warwick Castle in Warwick, Glastonbury Tor in Glastonbury are to name but a few.

  3. Canterbury has an excellent theatre, the marlowe. Rochester is worth a visit very historic with a castle, cathedral and musuems.

  4. York in Yorkshire in the north of England, with it's Viking, Roman and Saxon past.

Canterbury cathedral.  London with too numerous to mention,

Stonehenge in Wiltshire, Devon and Cornwall.

In Scotland the highlands and islands, as well as Edinburgh, with Princes street and the royal mile.

This is not an exhaustive list, but some suggestions.

  5. Shakespeare's Stratford-Upon-Avon
