I was wondering what would be good work experience for going into medicine?

i got straight A's in my standard grades or GCSE's for those of u who r english and i want to studdy medicine but i know grades aren't everything and that you need a lot of work experience. i live in edinburgh and i was wondering if anyone knew of anything that i could do. if there were any places in hospitals where i could volunteer or anything to do with working with disabled people. don't mind what

  1. Hi there,

    I work in the NHS and here a couple of my suggestions;

    Ring up some local GP surgeries and see if you can go and visit/spend a day there shadowing or observing.

    An easier option than trying to get experience in a hospital may be to contact local nursing homes. They always need volunteers and it's a great way to get practical experience of working with people and to learn about the complex problems elderly people have.

    Or like you say contact charities and see if they need any volunteers on playschemes.
