  1. Taken purely at face value, the quote wasn't the best thing to say, but I don't find it offensive.  It is true to an extent.  However, the state shouldn't be calling on people-men or women- to be getting married and having kids.  That should be up to them.

  2. aren't they overpopulated?

  3. I think that it's sad that the Prime Minister seems to think that women are only put on the earth to make babies. Many women don't even want children.

  4. That's true, and women who want children should plan ahead. But marrying young is not superior to marrying older, and the birth rates for women in their thirties and forties are as high as they've ever been. Besides which, if countries want their population to grow, they should give women incentives to have children, not scare tactics. And are they even counting orphans in their figures? They need families more than anyone else.

  5. Former Australian Treasurer and Deputy Prime Minister, Peter Costello told women to "have one for the country" a few years back.

    Same sort of thing.

  6. An article doesn't define you or how you should live your life. It's 2008 almost 2009. If you want to have a child at 25 great if you don't wonderful but a woman shouldn't choose between a career or having a child.Men don't deal with that. They can have both.

  7. I think it is c**p. A woman can have a successful career while still being a successful mother. Success means many things and can't be defined by one simple "hat" that you wear.

This quote is manipulative toward Singapore's women, trying to use them for political gain rather than encouraging them to live the lives they've imagined for themselves.

    GRRRRRR

  8. It's true.  Not politically correct, but true.

  9. It could be true for some. She didn't say that you will miss the ideal age, she said you may. I don't see anything wrong with it.

  10. I don't like that quote

  11. Woah. I don't think he has a right to tell women to put their career on hold to have children. I wouldn't do it.
