The Welshman reiterated that he couldn’t represent the Three Lions at senior level despite playing for the England http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/School-Boys-c40470 in his youth.
As one of the famed graduates of Carrington, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryan-Giggs-c31985 has gone to become a club legend, gathering trophy after trophy along the way.
His contributions for the Red Devils haven’t gone unnoticed and he has been labeled as the finest player ever to ply to his in the English Premier League.
However for all his glory at club level, Giggs failed to make an impact on the International arena, mostly down to the fact that Wales never had a squad to challenge for honours amongst Europe’s elite.
While he has been afforded a chance to play at this summer’s Olympics with the Great Britain team, the winger also played for England at youth level but was never capped with the seniors.
With a host of rumours going about as to why this never happened, Giggs has finally come out and spoken, claiming that he was illegible to represent the 1966 World Cup winners, as he had no ancestors linking him with the country.
"There was a lot of confusion about the situation because I played for England Schoolboys. Then, because of the problems http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 had on the left of midfield, people would say to me 'you should have chosen England'. But I was never able to choose England."
He also added that he would have loved to feature in a top International competition, but with Wales it was never to be.
"My career for my country has obviously been the total opposite to the one for my club. I've been so successful with United but not so with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wales-c3041. I would always watch the other lads, especially those ones I grew up with, go away on international tournaments
and wish that I could do the same."
After being picked for Team Great Britain, Giggs has also been handed the captaincy and looks set to play in the first game at Old Trafford on the 26th July. While the squad is strong, so is the opposition but the home side go into the competition
with the aim of gathering gold after a very long time.
