  1. I have way too many kids to even attempt taking them all somewhere every other day, but I can see why some time out of the house is appealing.  What I do is print out activities from online for us to do together, or get supplies for certain art projects or baking projects and make up a lesson plan just like a teacher so we have stuff to do. Then we get out on the weekends when I can get a hand from dad.

  2. I try to go do something with my kids just about every day too whether it's going to the park, the beach, the water slides, hiking, bike riding, the zoo, skateboarding at the skate park, whatever we are all in the mood for. It's good to keep them active rather than letting them sit in front of the TV or video games.

  3. yes its normal. if you plan and implement activities for the kids, you are also creating great memories for the kids. we limit our "away from home" activities to once a week and the rest of the time we play outside in our yard or pool.

  4. You don't 'have' to take them anywhere - but for your own sanity it's a good idea!  A change of scene certainly does everyone good and helps to wear off that extra energy that kids always seem to have.

I find even a trip to the supermarket can make me feel human again - but i think it's best to try and do an outing that meets both your needs and the kids needs, like a playgroup, so the kids can play and you can have an adult conversation.

  5. Not at all. You don't want them to get cooped up do you?

  6. I'm a SAHM as well and for me I just can't stand being cooped up in the house all day long so the boys and I usually head out almost everyday! (the only exeption is if I'm hanging over the toilet all day.) I'd say it's normal, not many people want to be home alot.

  7. I don't think it is necessary to take them out all the time somewhere special, but just to get outside is a good idea whether it is just in your own backyard, the park, etc. It is for your own sanity too. We can easily go several days without going somewhere, but we do get out in the backyard. We are out here in California and our air quality is very poor with the fires so we have no choice.

  8. You are in the mom taxi years.

  9. Sounds healthy to me.  Caregivers AND Kids need exercise,  sunshine, and stimulation other than the house.
