My husband and I have started our own ghost hunting society and would like to see if anyone knows what this type of detector is called

  1. Wow.  My BS detector is working great too.  Red flags all over the place.  The real paranormal does not work quite that easily.  If that were the case, the goofy James Randi guy would be out of a million bucks by now.

  2. Amazing.  I didn't watch the show, but my BS detector just started going off out of nowhere, good to know it's working.

  3. OoOoOoOoh, i still have an hour and 6 minutes to go until it comes on. i can't wait!!!  ÃƒÂ¢Ã‚™Â¡

  4. I haven't watched it yet tonight.  I remember seeing one episode at some kind of hospital or sanatorium where they used something called "Frank's Box" that picked up words.  Could that be what you are talking about?

  5. It's called an Ovilus which is a converted or "souped up" Frank's Box.

I have seen these several times on the internet and you can find videos on youtube showing one in use. It is called Frank's Box after Frank Sumption of Colorado, who created it.

"Frank's Box scans AM/FM and low band frequencies to create a noise matrix from which the dead — as well as other entities — can use to modulate for messages. It's made of computer, radio and electronic components. Like real-time EVP (electronic voice phenomena), Frank's Box produces messages from a word or two to complete sentences in length.

Frank Sumption says he received instructions for building the device from disembodied entities. His first box was built in 2002, and he has made fewer than three dozen. While anyone can build one from his schematics, there seems to be something especially effective about the boxes hand-made by Sumption himself.

Rosemary Ellen Guiley is the owner of two Frank's Boxes made by Sumption, She can attest to their operation. The box seems to create an entire energy field that attracts spirits. You can ask questions, and get answers — but not consistently. No matter who you ask for on the Other Side, it's often a guess as to who — or what — really answers. Some researchers, like Sumption himself, don't ask questions, but turn on the box and record whatever comes through, much like EVP." from a post by Rosemary Ellen Guiley on paranormalinsider.com

The videos on youtube show a Frank's Box being turned on and someone just writing down what is being said. It seems anyone can come through and talk, if they want to be heard. Hope this helps.

  6. See the link below, but don't blow your money just yet. Seems like pure snake oil to me. I suspect it's just a speech synthesizer circuit with a voice recognition function. If it detects a spoken word it can match to its built-in dictionary, it will repeat it. This gives the illusion that the "ghost" is responding to your question. Otherwise it just spits out random words.

I haven't see the circuit diagram for this yet and I doubt I ever will, but I am pretty confident this is exactly what it is. I think this statement from the owners manual says it all: "sold as an entertainment device only. We make no claim to the validity of the data received by this device."

  7. There was once a great American showman by the name of P.T. Barnum who was often quoted as saying,"There is a sucker born every minute". Others say that the words were , "A customer born every minute". It makes no difference because either way a fool and his money are soon parted. The internet is the perfect tool to make people part with their hard earned cash as there is so much B.S. and hype who knows what is the truth. I have been around a long time and seen enough to smell a rat. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.I have to see hard scientific evidence by a peer review committee before I part with my cash. Still you can't help some people no matter what you tell them
