  1. Did you also notice that most of em were Canadian or Russian and have long last names are can barely be pronounced?

Nah, that's just how they roll, or they have placed a bet on who can not shave/trim their beard the longest. The San Antonio Spurs did that and it was hilarious!

  2. Its a play off beard...once your team makes play offs its bad luck to shave any more. Once their team is out of the play offs or wins they can shave again. Regular season everyone is shaved up nice for games.

Its just tradition and you know you don't mess with tradition.

  3. Playoff beards!

  4. Like everyone said- its the playoffs and they don't shave their beards.  Very superstitious.  Now- just ask a hockey fan if they have any superstitions- some of us are nuts!  Esp. me!  ;)

  5. The game of hockey believe it or not is actually Amish in history. The early games were played using frozen road apples and today the Amish still have a monopoly on the supply.

That is why there is a preponderance of beards today. That and the growing influence of Sikhism in the sport. Many of you might have noticed it but there are an awful lot of people asking about the Indian Hockey Team.  Just an example of more Sikhs moving to the NHL.

  6. I would say beards are common for hockey players who are rough tough guys playing a winter sport.

and even if they usually don't sport a beard it is common to grow the 'rally beard' during the playoffs.

  7. its called playoff beards..mostly everyone does it during the playoffs then during the regular season you wont see it as much.

  8. They grow the beards for the playoffs

  9. They are playoff beards.  Most of them don't have them in regular season.

  10. it's bad luck if you win and shave off the "luck"

  11. hahaha playoff beards lol it is an odd tradition if your team makes it too the playoffs you can't shave. During the regularseason they on't really have beards maybe just scruff. In the AHL they got tired of the beards so one team just has moustaches that is a funny sight.

  12. During the playoffs most players don't shave. Which I find to be ironic because the playoffs are sponsored by Gillette Shaving Gel and Razors  : )

  13. Capiduch...im still laugihing about Crosby trying to grow a beard!!!!

Amish in origin..what r u smoking top contributor???

Hockey is a very superstitious sport...they will watch the same movie if they win after they watch it..or eat the same food...the list goes on and on.

  14. they are playoff beards

  15. Playoff beards. Even 20 year old Crosby is trying to grow one. Key word "trying". He looks like he has a sanchez.

  16. During the Stanley Cup playoffs/finals it is a tradition to not shave your beard until after the playoffs are over. So during the rest of the year most of the players don't have beards, it's only during this time.

  17. playoff beard .. superstition

  18. Playoff beards.... if you watch the history of playoffs, this is very common. All of the teams are very supersticious.
