I watched the Kentucky Derby and it said the winner was paid 11.80...if his odds were 9-2, wouldnt it pay 450?

    My wife hit the trifecta.

    9-2 means you get nine dollars for every two dollars bet, and you add on your original bet...plus whatever remains between the 5-1, which is was just a minute before the race.

    5-1 means you get five dollars for every one dollar you bet, plus your two dollars, that would equal $12.00

  2. Leonard & the Cooch r right...to know truly is the last 5min before post time...u make money by betting on LONGSHOTS or the Tri/Exc. Only the old folks truly know how to make money at the racetrack...it's a dying breed that the young ones just-can't-grasp!!
