I weigh 210 and am starting to work out 60 minutes a day, how long will it take me to lose any pounds at all?

I'm also eating better, drinking water, watching cals, etc. If I'm doing all this, how long will it be before I see some results? Anyone have this experience? I'm doing a combo of treadmill some days, cardio mostly and abs/weights training...like Turbo Jam with Chalene Johnson...lots of punches, lunges, squats, etc. Help!!

Well the first couple of weeks you'll will drop weight.  Mostly going to consist of water weight though.  Make sure your eating at least 1200 calories a day.  To boost your metabolism eat 5-6 small meals a day.  That way, your never hungry and your metabolism is working all day long.  You are on the right track with the combination of cardio and weight lifting training.  Circuit training is very good to build lean muscle.  Circuit training is doing low weight, Hi reps, with about a minute and a half in between sets/ excercises.  You want to build muscle, since muscle burns fat.   Also, be sure when doing cardio your heart rate isn't in the cardio zone.  Look it up on the internet and find what your fat burning zone is and keep it in that range,.  You can get a heart monitor fairly cheap that will allow you to monitor your heart rate range.  

    All in all, it takes time.  You sound like you have a good start on it.  Keep pushing along and you will start to notice results in no time.  Good Luck.

  4. Well it really depends. Everyone is different. It seems like you are on the right track. It should take about 3 weeks at least after an initial change to see some weight loss. It depends on how much weight you want to lose and your gender .

    But anyways, I think it should take at least 3 or 4 weeks. Because your body has to adjust. But in the mean time, you will be burning  fat- it just takes awhile to show up on the scale.

    Remember when you're doing all that working out you build muscle and this keeps the scale from going down as quickly - but if you'll measure yourself you'll see you are losing inches, and you'll be able to tell in your clothes. Think about the people on The Biggest Loser. Even when they had buffed up and lost inches the scale did not always agree. So you have to decide which is your goal.

    I lost 90 pounds on Atkins in 6 months with NO exercise program, and kept it off - but I bet you'll have better muscle tone than I have. For me it was easier to lose the weight first and then begin an exercise program to tone.

    Good luck to you!  Save up some calories so you can enjoy yourself on Thanksgiving! You'll be so much thinner by then - only 3 months from now!

  10. My estimate is 2 pounds first week.

    Depends on the total cal. taken and total burned per day, math emetics is simple if the deference is A(say 500) then in a week you will burn 7 x A = 3500 cal. That is one pound even.

    Look at cal on the machine most treadmill have this reading available.

    Take your one week reading of weight loss. This will give you some Idea.

    You must count calories and at least in initial stages write down what you are going to eat and when then stay on that list. Your total calories for the week must not exceed, 1500 x 7 = 10,500 calories this will give you leave way to indulge at special occasions like wedding and parties, but you must write down what you eat and account for the calories latter and adjust the total intake next week.

    While at it build your body too, while reducing by doing body parts specific exercises.

    If you are not too old, then best way to reduce your weight is to increase your height.

    Vegetarians have a big advantage, in loosing weight, it cost less and they can satisfy the hunger more easily, some vegetables have only a few calories per pound, so they can fill themselves up with it before enjoying each meal, and never go hungry.

    Most people should take one a day water soluble multi-vitamins when on this program; they can be purchased at the pharmacy near you.

    This is simple, it is easy to find out and it is available on line, it is call Body Mass Index, and calculations are simple. According to this calculation if you find your self say only 10 pounds more, you may not be over weight. Remember every one is slightly different and you can just watch it, on your own and not let it get out of hand.

    What is the reason for being over weight?

    This is also simple, have doctor check you out for any physical or hormonal abnormalities. The doctor should be advising you of your ideal weight even though you have already figured out the ideal weight and you are seen a doctor because your weight is not where it should be according to BMI.

    Basic understanding of loosing weight.

    Every one uses calories at all time. There may be some exceptions to this rule, for most of us; the rate of use, even when we are resting, we use 65 calories per hour minimum. This comes to1560 calories per day. The actual range is between 65 and 100 calories per hour. This is consistent with heart rate of 60 to 80 bits per minute.

    Simply put any person eating only say 1500 calories a day, and moderately active, will not put on any additional weight. At this level of calories consumption the person should loose some weight over long haul, depending on the individual rate of metabolism.

    3. Need to reduce weight only.

    Fat: 25 percent of 1500 calorie per day = 375 calories.

    Complex Carbohydrates: 25 percent of 1500 calories per day = 375 calories.

    Proteins: 50 percent of 1500 calories per day = 750 calories.

    4. Need to increase muscles bulk, but still reduce weight.

    Fat: 10 percent of 1500 calorie per day = 150 calories.

    Complex Carbohydrates: 15 percent of 1500 calories per day = 225 calories.

    Proteins: 75 percent of 1500 calories per day = 1125 calories.

    Exercise the muscles you want to develop, you can find right exercise on line, recommend use of light weights.

    Foot note: To take fat is so important, while reducing even fat, that it is included in all cases. If the fat is completely cut out, body will think of producing the fat, and will produce the fat by reducing metabolism, without fat in take, you may actually again weight even at lower than 1500 calorie level. You will feel run down and lethargic.

    A 16 oz glass of water first thing in the morning will be very healthy start.

    To day almost half the world is starving.

    In western culture. Standard healthy practice for long time was three warm square meals per day. No eating in between, but children were allowed night cap.

    All that has changed, present thinking is 5 to 6 times per day. Any way what practice one follows is up to them; to each his own.

    Another best practice will be a glass of water before bed time, nothing to eat for two hours before bed time.

  11. First off, Don't concentrate on losing weight, concentrate on burning off the body fat and building/toning muscle. Toned muscles and little body fat are what makes a body look s**y and appealing.

    I was 160 lbs, and 5'7.

    I'm 5'8 now, and 145 and still continuing to lose fat off my body.

    It depends on every person, and their metabolism.

    You should, however, start to see results within 2 months.

  13. probs a week or so. weigh yourself now, write down ur weight  and then way yourself every week. lots of luck :)

  14. about 3 days, however if you are lifting weights you may actually have your weight increase, because muscle weighs more than fat.,but you will look better.

  15. The first week your weight will start dropping really fast. A few more weeks later your weight will stop decreasing as fast because your body has adapated to the routine. MY advice is to keep alternating and always changing your workout a little.
