Ok I dance ballet 6 days a week (11h a week) which is pretty much a lot and umm i take it very seriously. I'm 14 years old and weigh 72 pounds. If I'm correct I believe most people my age weigh around 120-140 pounds. My teacher said I need to have a goal to weigh 50 pounds now (my other goal was 75 pounds) but I'm just not losing weight anymore it's like I've reached my maximum of losing weight. I need a trick to lose weight FAST without being anorexic and stuff.

Quitting or explaining to my teacher that I can't do it isn't an option for those about to answer that. Dance is my life and my career goal is to be a ballerina. If i'm going to be a ballerina I need to lose this 22 pounds. And yes my weight does affect my dancing because they can reject me from companies for being too fat etc.

  1. diet at your age is very dangerous. if you wish to meet your best weight and have a better control of your figure, you should walk taking very long strides. kind of like a robot. it will look silly but it will stretch your legs. perhaps it sounds as though you have some  mid drift belly fat

if you walk enough it will disappear sooner than you would realize.

  2. You're dance teacher should be arrested.

Think about it - does 50 lbs sound right to you?

  3. Well her request is completely absurd, if you were to lose all of that weight you WILL die. You need to understand that. You asked us not to tell you to quit or explain the situation, but if your dream career leads to losing the weight, those are your only options. None of us want you to kill yourself, and losing 22 pounds will do just that. You COULD just quit, then find another teacher who doesn't ask you, "Be a dear and go die of starvation." But one thing you have to do is talk with your parents about this. They will definitely want to know what is going on.

  4. Is dance worth your life?  I'm sorry, but it makes me sick when I see how coaches disregard the athlete's/dancer's health.  I've had friends who nearly killed themselves "cutting weight" for wrestling.

Keep a healthy weight and make it work for you.  If they flunk you, then it is obvious that you are nothing more than meat to them and they are in it for their own sick reasons instead of your dreams.

EDIT to your edit:  There is no way for you to safely lose 1/3 of your body weight when you are 40 pounds underweight to start with.  What do you want us to say?

  5. 50 pounds is not a healthy weight for any human being unless they are less than 4ft tall. Please don't listen to your teacher: he/she is putting your health at risk and they should be fired. You don't sound overweight at all, I don't see why you would be rejected

  6. Eeep!  Sweetie, Unless you are only 4 ft tall, then 75 lbs is underweight already.  If you look in the mirror and can count your ribs, then you are too thin.  If the difference between your rib cage and your waist in more than three inches, you are too thin.  I'd seriously check if you can find a different teacher and if not change teachers at least ask them their opinion (Preferably from a whole different school.)  Your dream won't come true if you die from being grossly underweight.

  7. you cant lose that much weight that fast... at most u should lose no more than 3lbs a week and ur body simply wouldn't let u get down that low..it would shut down and go into organ and system failure

how tall are u hun? my younger sister is 18 and shes 4'11 and she weighs 96lbs and shes very tiny for her age (genetic) she is also very athletic. her doctor has said she would prefer her to gain a little bit on weight because she is underweight for her height and age

any person who says that u need to weigh 50lbs is out of her d**n mind. no company will hire u at that weight because u will either be dead or u will be so sick (weak and dehydrated) that u will no longer be able to dance. ur teacher is forcing an eating disorder and no one in their right mind will tell u how to lose more weight. u need to gain weight (healthy weight aka muscle not fat)

find a new teacher..this one is going to kill u and end up with a nasty little law suit on her hands when u end up in the ICU of ur nearest hospital

  8. u have to gain don't listen to ur teacher eyeot if ur 4'2  which probably ur not at the age 14 u must be atleast 4'7  and that is not healthy for a girl ur age to weigh 72 pounds  complain to ur mother that ur teacher is taking it to seriously ^^

  9. Ur 14 and weigh 72 lbs. wow u r sick. if u go anymore u will look anna or bulimic. but if its ur choice to die at ur age then go ahead... listen to ur teach and thats a load of BS if i can say so.

  10. You would be dead if you weighed 50 lbs.

  11. Talk to a doctor or maybe your school nurse about the problem. Where are your parents? You CANNOT lose 50 pounds and live. It's that simple. Your problem is far too serious for this forum.

  12. You never mentioned your height and that would have a lot to do with what you should weigh.Unless you're a very short person even 72lbs sounds too small for your age.If you mess up your body with bad dieting, then you won't have a career period, much less dancing. You are much too young to lose weight fast.BTW,what does your parents say?

  13. there are no "good and effective" diet and exercise plans for you, if you were 50 lbs your would be dead. if you are 72 pounds NO dance company or anyone else for that matter is going to tell you you are fat.

  14. That isn't healthy I wouldn't lose that weight if I were you. If you are too underweight you may end up with heart disease (yes it can happen even when you're not overweight) and other disease. I'd go to my doctor and as for a doctors note saing you're not allowed to loose anymore weight. Is dancing worth more to you than your life???

  15. no they wont reject you my mom and aunt are ballarinas i am a ballet dancer and i weigh 80 pounds and that is fine. Ballet dancers should weigh alot as the have muscle
