This morning I walked into a contact isolation room without knowing. I did not have any contact with the patient but I did touch his used water container. Should I be concerned? What should I do?

  1. It depends on what disease the person has.

People can be placed on "contact" isolation sometimes for minor localized infections. However, if this infection does not need a break in the skin to cause an infection then there should be a concern. Generally, the most common is chicken pocs.

Remember : Contact - you have to touch it....

Respiratory - you can breath it....

I would find out what the patient was placed on contact isolation for. Then, if it's reasonably possible that you are at serious risk of getting a lethal health problem then get treated imediately. Otherwise, be sure to wash your hands after being in the room in the future and don't touch anything without gloves on( then wash after taking them off).
