Question:

I went on a 3 hour walk and now my legs ache but i have to go on a bike ride tomorrow?

i've been trying to get fitter so i've been doing more active things i went on a three hour walk in the morning after helping out at my stables and when i got home i went on a bike ride and now legs really hurt i don't mind it but tomorrow i have this bike ride with my friend and i was wondering if there was anyway to make them hurt less because i love bike riding and dont want to be held back.

i'm 13 and i want to be fitter to lose some weight and i know that you have to deal with the pain i just want to know if there's a way to reduce it so i don't get held back on the bike. thanks. x

  1. Deep heat available from your local supermarket helps a bit for aches and pains


  2. At 13 your actually too you too diet. Your body isnt matured so dont over-do it. Your muscle will take over your fat, you might see an increase in weight because muscle weights more than fat.

    Do not over-do your body, as you could start becoming addicted, and not getting the fats that you need for your body. If you want to do something do a 5days a week training thing..

    Remember to eat correctly.

You can self-massage, make the classical Karate-chop shape with your hands, and chop up and down your thighs, work to the outer and the inner.  This will stimulate your lymphatic drainage system, removing the lactic-acid from your previous exertions.  You can also stand on one leg, catch your foot behind you, and pull it up, which is a great stretch for the quads.

  4. Hey I just want to add... you could be cramping and/or dehydrated so drink lots of water.

    Also bananas are awesome for rebuilding your muscles quickly and fighting fatigue and cramps.  Eat two bananas.

    The less ripe the better actually - as bananas get soft their sugar content goes skyrocketing.

    You are 13 years old - you can and should be running around non-stop.

  5. Take a nice warm shower tonight and you will feel pretty good. Same in the morning to relax your muscles.

  6. Well get off that computer, have a hot bath and go to bed.

You cant get fit in one day it is going to take time.  You need to exercise every day, some days harder then others and take a break one a week to recover.  When on the bike pedal at a high cadence 70-90 rpm's and you legs wont get tired as fast.  The pain will go away after a few min on the bike, just take it easy.
