I went on a Discovery Cruise to To Grand Bahama Island in Freeport Bahamas?

The Cabins were so small you could barely breath. I am thinking about taking a Carnival cruise next year. On a category A cabin how big is the cabin? Is there a way That I can see how big the cabins are?

Find out the name of the ship that cruise/date will be using.  Then just pull up a floorplan.  If you can't find the floorplan easily online, ask your travel agent when you book the cruise.

Do be prepared:  cruise cabins are notoriously tiny.  I had a "larger" one with ocean view last time, and it reminded me of a walk-in closet. :-)

Please don't use the Discovery as an example of today's cruise ships.  She is a really old ship by today's standards.

Carnival uses the letter "A" as the identifier for the least expensive cabin in any particular class.  For example, their inside cabins are "Class 4" - they have 4A, 4B, 4C, & 4D.  The 4A would be the least expensive "inside cabin".  The same thing holds true with their "oceanview/outside cabins" or  "Class 6".  Here they have 6A, 6B, 6C, and 6D.

By the way every single one of the cabins in all 8 categories above is exactly the same size!  Carnival has the largest standard cabins of any cruise line - 185 sq. ft. compared to 155 - 175 on others.  The only difference in the "classes" is the location of the cabin and deck you select.

I tell my clients that want to "see how big the cabin is" to go into a store that has 1 foot square tiles on the floor, (almost all tiles are 1 foot square) and count an area 10 feet wide by 18 1/2 feet long.

Planning the cruise is a big part of the enjoyment.

The "Discovery Sun" of Discovery Cruises is a ferry, you can't compare that with a cruise ship.

But as some other people say, check out the webpages for the cruise line you want and have a look on the deck plans.

Don´t pay untill you get that info from the cruise line
