I went on an a job interview and got the job but still haven't heard back from them.

Question

I went on the interview on Thursday July 10th and got the job they did say they wouldn't be ready to start me for a couple of weeks cause they need to set up some stuff and they would call me in a couple of days. Its been more than two weeks and I still never got a call letting me know the full details and start date. Granted it is a family owned business I know they are busy but now I am getting the fear that something went wrong should I call or wait a couple more days? It took them a week to call me back when I first applied for the job and did apologize saying they were busy.

Call right away!  And just say-

"This is ___ ___ and I am just calling to find out which day this next week I will be starting as I am starting to do my calendar."

This sounds confident, and not asking if you ARE starting.  Just which day.  At the same time, I would confirm what hours and pay you will be starting at as this sounds like a disorganized owner/manager.  Hopefully, your first day/week will be great!

They should have called you already but they are probably very busy.  

You should call them about 10:00am (if possible). This would give them enough time to get into their day but not too late that they get too busy to speak to you.

You might want to begin with, "Hello, this is_____  _____I am just touching base about the _____ position you selected me for.   I had interviewed with you a couple of weeks ago and you had said you would call in a few days as to when I can begin working.  At this time, do you have any idea as to when I would start?

At this point, they will probably apologize for not getting back to you sooner and they would give you a possible or definite starting date.  

Practice what you will be saying before you call, that's always a good idea. Good Luck!

You should call them to check if everything is ok. You have to check when are you starting.
