I believe that the format is udf or iso. i have a sony video camera and it will not play it either. I had a program to convert but when it finished you had to buy the program to watch the movie. That program had a short preview so i know that there is video and audio on the disk. Wmp, real, winamp, and a few others have already been tried. i even tried to download a fix to be able to get it to play and that did not work either. I only have this one video of my race and i would really like to be able to watch it. Any help you can give would be a great help. Thanks

  1. Video DVDs use Universal Disk Format (UDF), but I doubt that's got anything to do with your problem - I'd expect a computer to be able to read an ISO formatted disk as well.  My guess is the DVD hasn't been finalised - something that should have been done when you were given the disk.  If you can get back to whoever recorded it, they should be able to fix it.  If not, I think you'll have to buy that program you've already tried, or maybe IsoBuster - whichever is cheaper.

  2. If your computer actually has a DVD optical drive (it could be CD only, but we can't see what you see - the door on the optical drive)... anyway, you could try ripping the DVD using HandBrake...

and saving it in a MP4 or avi format...
