and by the time my wife put all the protective gear on us we looked like we were going to play football.

Do you think all that equipment is necessary?

  1. i don't believe all of it is, i think a helmet and maybe wrist gaurds is all and by the way, that's awesome that you can go skating with them, i can't even get my parents to go


  2. If you are just skating up and down the sidewalk/street you may limit the protection depending on your skill level. I have small children and choose to have them wear a helmet, knee pads and wrist guards just because they aren't very good and spend most of there time falling down. As they get better I will let them lose the knee pads and maybe the wrist guards, but the helmet stays on.

    I am on a women's roller derby team and I wear a helmet, wrist guards, knee pads, elbow pads, ankle brace and a mouth guard because we are aggressive skaters.

    Just take skill level and basic safety into account and have a good time!!
