I don't need laser eye surgery as my eyesight is fine?not that bad and they'd just make my eyesight worse, do you think that I should go to Optical Express for a second opinion as they also do free consultations?

  1. Are you having problems with your eyesight then?  Difficulty seeing things?  Headaches?

If not - why are you bothered?

If you are - sure - go & get your eyes checked - best place is at a recognised opthalmic optician

  2. Why bother going from one high street clinic to the next one? You'd be going backwards by going to Optical Express. If you are still concerned about your vision and want some form of correction other than glasses, try going to a smaller private clinic - they also do free consultations and some charge a lot less than the '£395per eye' high street chains. Have a look at www.lasik-eyes.co.uk or www.accuvision.co.uk/laser-eye-surgery-c... for some price comparisons etc.

There are lots of questions to look at in terms of whether you should get another opinion - what is your full prescription, do you have reading glasses, what do you spend your day looking at (computer screen etc)? Perhaps the most important question: what is your motivation? Laser Vision Correction can only give you the type of vision that you get from your glasses, it cannot 'improve' your vision, nor can it remove the need for reading glasses for some work. If you ultimately only have a very small prescription, then it is best to leave it. Small prescriptions have very small tolerances for correction and many more people are unhappy people after surgery than compared with large prescriptions that have large accuracy tolerances.

    Hope this helps

  3. I've had the same with Optimax.

Your eye sight has to have deteriorated a certain amount before laser surgery becomes viable... and mine like yours haven't gone that far yet.

Despite your desire for laser correction, you have recieved good advice.
