and was stunned by the lack of personality coming from the players. No emotion, no personality, just a bunch of robots. Maybe an occasional touch of the hat (supposed to be a tip of the cap) that was just as robotic.

I wasn't impressed with these golfers. No acknowledgment of the reason they are out there, the fans.

Does anyone have any similar thoughts? Different thoughts? I'd love to hear the thoughts of all.

  1. Weird... Maybe they are Robots!!! LoL

I have been playing golf for 8 years now :D

  2. I went to the Dueschue Bank Championship in Norton MA. I followed around Rory Sabitini and Adam Scott. It was a sunday and there were not many people following them around. They were talking to each other about some RV trip or about boats and they were also laughing having a good time. they both acknowledge the fact when you said nice shot or great job. It could have been the players. When they were laughing and having a good time it was in between holes and shots.

  3. It's called concentration. The pretty much need to stay in their zone. If you want to go to a tournament and see their personalities, go to the practice or pro-am rounds, that's where they let their hair down.

By the way, I go "thank-you"'s from both Mike Weir and Jim Furyk today, when I complimented their drive\putt. Fred Couples was quite interactive as well.

  4. It's all about focus on the course. Try to find them in the clubhouse or at dinner after the round. They are much more personable. If they are on the range they tend to have a little more emotion. But overall you are right. Golfers are not ones to change their routine on the course because a fan yells "HEY PHIL, WANNA HAVE A BEER?". Off the course though they are real people not just robots.

  5. They're at work. It's their job. They're playing to retain their status and millions of dollars. Try talking to Kobe Bryant during a time out at a playoff game. Or, how sociable with strangers are you allowed to be when at work?
