I went to the doctors the other day...?

Question

I went for the 6 month check up and I think a physical. I know this is usual but they touched me "up" and "down" if you know what I mean, for the first time ever. I wasn't expecting it because no one told me so I had completely no idea until the doctor asked my sister and mom to please leave the room for a little bit. It was weird because she said that I shouldn't worry because I have had this done last year, which I know for a fact that I didn't. I am 13. Was I supposed to have one last year or ever earlier? (ps: This has nothing to do with this but I got two shots, one was my second dose out of three thing to prevent cervical cancer and another one for something else that had like a long name or whatever but anyways, it hurts =[ ) By the way, this was on Friday, August 22, 2008.

Well at your age because you are going through puberty the doctors will usually feel around your pelvis to check for any inflamation, and make sure your glands down by your v****a (located right under the enterance to your v****a) aren't swollen.  

Also, you are right at the age when they start doing this, it just depends on when you start puberty.  Some girls start it earlier than others, don't worry about the comment your doctor made.

And you don't need to see a gyno until you are 18 or sexually active.  Though I am curious- did they give you the HPV shot without a PAP Smear first?  I though you have to have a full gyno exam to get it (which would include looking in there, scraping around, fun stuff.)

She probably thought you had a complete physical by now. usually regular doctors will do a full body physical once a year just to make sure everything is okay. So when she said that she didn't mean you needed it done but it should have been done
