I only received GI Bill payments as income, and yes, I did file a tax return even though I did not pay any taxes. I received GI Bill payments full time for every month last year, so I did get more than the $3,000 minimum.

  1. Did you use the stimulus calculator?

    Call 1-866-234-2942.

  2. Some, but not all, VA benefits are qualifying income.  The ones that count toward the $3000 qualifying income are  veterans’ disability compensation and pension or survivors’ benefits received from the Department of Veterans Affairs.   Regular GI BIll payments aren't, so if that was your only income, sorry but you aren't eligible.

  3. Unfortunately, GI Bill payments don't qualify for the stimulus plan rebates.  Only a VA Pension (disability or survivors' pension) does, in addition to the various SS benefits or earned income.  I don't know why Congress left GI Bill recipients out, but they did.
