because I wasnt feeling healthy, so I went back to my normal diet but I'm still not feeling very good.

(Being vegan was how I found out I was lactose i tolerant so I stopped drinking milk so Ive been drinking a lot of soy milk, I havent had normal milk since june.)

If that helps any...

is it possible that boing vegan, (i know vegan isnt nesicarily unhealthy its just that I was unprepared and I wasnt eating right) rally messed up my digestive system, because milk used to make me sick...but now its twice as bad, and I cant even drink lactose free stuff, its like I just cant digest any kind of milk anymore...

  1. its possible that vegetarianism messed up your body so much that going vegan was the final straw. I'm sorry, but you HAVE to eat some meat otherwise you will collapse in a few months. Eat some yogurt instead of milk and see if you can handle it better.

  2. No other species drinks milk beyond infancy, and no other species drinks the milk of another species.  After 2 years of age, most people begin to produce less lactose, the enzyme that helps with the digestion of milk. This reduction can lead to lactose intolerance.  Going vegan didn't mess up your digestive system.  A vegan diet has been proven to improve your health in a great number of ways, including improving your digestion.  I would say drink less soy milk, but don't give it up, as your body is most likely adjusting to it.  Instead of drinking a full glass, just drink half a glass.

  3. Were you a vegetarian before you became vegan? if you were, the trnsition wouldnt be as hard

  4. I went through something almost exactly the same. Although, in my case, being vegan for a month and a half had nothing to do with my inability to tolerate any milk product.  I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in 7th grade, then in 11th grade, my new doctor said it just...disappeared. So two years I went without medication and eventually my crohn's got so bad, I couldn't eat ANY thing without getting sick. I saw a new doctor recently and he put me back on meds. I'm feeling a lot better but I still have to watch my dairy intake. You might want to see a gastroenterologist about it. You'll most like have either an endoscopy or a colonoscopy or both. Living that way, being sick all the time, is just awful.

  5. Sweetie, we aren't born lactose intolerant, young children can tolerate the stuff, but as we get older we have more problems with it. Your post is a bit confusing, but your first step towards becoming a vegan has been forced on you by lactose intolerance. It would be a good idea to see your doctor just to get things checked out.

  6. because vegan diets for some reason mean more processed junk food.

i don't understand that,  i also know a few fat vegans...   but so far no fat vegetarians.

doesn't understand that other than i don't know  any vegetarians who eat junk food.

i've been reading the labels of my vegan pals foods and it's amazing that the foods are high in calories, low in  minerals and sometimes contain dairy.     for some reason they eat lesser veggies and fruits also, which i figured if one was to go vegan they'd be even more  picky and eat more healthy foods.

i've been having discussions with my vegan pals but.. to no avail.  they believe i'm against them but what i'm trying to tell them is their diet  is not any better than most meat eaters who don't partake in a  balanced diet.

i'm sticking with vegetarianism myself..    no meats,  no  processed foods...   very restricted.       been one for 3 decades now.

i don't see what the big deal in veganism really is.. i find it a lesser diet than  the strict vegetarian diet.

maybe you should go back to a pure vegetarian diet.     fresh fruits, veggies and unprocessed  nuts, beans and grains.

  7. No, being vegan won't do it, but if you wer incorrectly being vegan( not balancing your diet propeerly) then yes, that could have. Or maybe because it was such a big change.  Also, I suggest calcium enriched rice milk over soy. I just switched because I did some research and soy isn't exactly great for you. Look it up. Oh, and also good luck! :)

  8. go to the doctors but sometimes a big difference makes a big mistake

  9. Maybe you are allergic to soy?

go to your doctor and have it checked out, if you want to be vegan i'm sure he/she could help you with that maybe by taking suppliments?

  10. go vegetarian thats easier

  11. You need to have a check up.

How about not drinking any type of milk at all for a couple of weeks and see what happens.

But please DO see a doctor.

  12. Well, how long did you stop drinking milk for? I might be wrong, but I'm under the impression that your can lose the ability to digest milk if you haven't consumed it for a long time. In your case, make your inability worse.
