I have 8 years experience as a pre-school teacher and 2 years experience as an Assistant Director for pre-schools. I am looking to move back to the area within a year.

  1. I'm not sure. I am pretty sure that early childhood education is a different license from elementary education in Colorado.

Additional information is on their website--I would email them and ask them what you need to do.  I have found them to be very responsive and helpful in the past. I wouldn't call unless you could call first thing in the morning or have lots of time on your hands...LOL!

My degree is in elementary education complete with student teaching....I also needed to pass the Praxis #14 Elementary Content exam, and be fingerprinted.

  2. You will need to get a teaching license, which will require taking classes. You may be able to get out of some of them if you've already taken them for your B.S. but not all. An elementary license is different than early childhood. You will also need to take the Praxis test. Good luck!
