  1. The west side of the country is beautiful. The Burren, Cliffs of Moher and the small fishing town of Ballyvaughan is wonderful. Enjoy your trip. I'll be going there next spring!

There are many great guest houses to stay in also if you don't like to stay in a typical hotel.

  2. Don't miss the Cliffs of Moher and the Dingle Peninsula (Ring of Dingle).  Killaloe is also a lovely town.

  3. Rent a car. Go to Galway. Spend one day traveling around Connemara. You will need a map to follow this (1st link) But when there buy the Ordnance Survey maps. Take this route. Galway to Oughterard to Maam Cross to Recess. After Recess maybe 5 miles take a right and drive through the Inagh Valley (really beautiful). After the valley go left towards Letterfrack.  Stop off at Kylemore abbey, great scenery good for gifts. Then onto Clifen for some food and Guinness. Then take the "main" road back to Galway - you will drive by the 12 Bens mountains. Back in Galway head to Quay street for the night.

Day 2: Go South, Oranmore, Kilgolgan, Kinvara (nice castle) Ballyvaughan and continue on the Coast road towards Black Head, great views of the ocean and the Aran Islands and you are in the Burren. Stay along the coast - do not be temprted by the decieving road-signs. Then to the Cliffs of Moher and then back to Galway or whereever. Believe me on this it is the best part of Ireland. I have seen it all. All of this can be done in 2 days easily. Get good maps. drive carefully and enjoy.

  4. Do what all the Tourists do and go west or south, you meet all of them there. Or, be independent and go Northwest (County Donegal) I had a fantastic time there, the countryside is every bit as magnificent as elsewhere , if not better and it is still reasonably inexpensive. As to the people, they are great. Just don't talk down to them,

  5. Rent a car and travel to the Southeast. Get an American travel agent to set you up a driving itinerary to see sights. And I HIGHLY recommend the bed and breakfast Annestown House in Annestown. The rural locals are extremely helpful with directions, etc. You will need an International Driving License and plenty of patience with rural roads. The biggest challenge is making turns on divided highways since you'll be on the left.

  6. Wicklow " the garden of ireland" specifically gledalough. not far from dublin and full of history culture & sceneary.
