I will be a foreign exchange student in Switzerland next year, can I work?

  1. I'm an exchange student with AFS and I know we cannot work while abroad. But I'm not too sure if thats a AFS thing or not.


  2. I was an exchange student with Rotary and we were technically not allowed to work either. I have not heard of an agency that does.  They would say to us that we signed up for a "STUDENT exchange" and we did not go abroad to work. Also, I believe that you only take out a student visa when you sign up for a student exchange, and that visa shouldn't allow you to work legally.... although, who knows, there might be exceptions but I doubt there are many.

    Many students, however, work "secretly" by babysitting or tutoring children in English or other subjects.  Pretty much nothing fancy that would require a work visa.  

  3. yes you can. just show them a copy of your visa and a valid id or passport....
