Well, I wanted to attend to a college in Illinois, this fall 2007, but it seems like i will need some more time to have all my stuff ready for the registration, so I will have to start next semester, in January 2008.

I just don't know if i'll be able to travel to the US, like in september, I don't know if the Embassy will allow me to travel so early before starting school, I understand that they let you travel using a visitor visa, (I think that's the turist visa, which i have) but then, how will i get my student visa in my passport??? could i go to the Embassy over there (At the US)???

Thank you!!

Have a nice day

  1. The US immigration laws are second in complexity only to the IRS laws.  Here is what you need to know:

Your F-1 visa cannot be issued earlier than 4-months before the start date on your I-20, and you may not enter the US on your new F-1 visa more than 45-days before the start date on your I-20.  If you wish to enter the US on your B1/B2 visa, you may do so, but then you must leave the US (and North America, or remain outside the US in Canada or Mexico for at least 30 days), and then re-enter the US on your F-1 for duration of status.  Also, you must apply for and receive your F-1 visa, in person, outside the US (there is no US embassy in the US).

  2. ok .. You should go to www.uscis.gov and check out the way. But for my experience, you get to apply a school first, then they will send you a confirmation letter, they get all of those information for apply an student visa.
