I'm filming a wedding and I was curious to know what brand and what format of mics i should buy that will work the best because I will be outside where there will be wind, and right now I don't have any Mics at all and I want some professional mics that I can use in the future as well for more than just weddings.

  1. Shure and Sennheiser make good UHF, full diversity, wireless lavaliere mics. You will ant at least 2. Expect to spend about $400 for each set (1 body pack and on base station makes 1 set).

Senheiser and Audio Technica make great shotgun mics.

Expect to spend about $700 or more for a good shotgun mic. You will also want a boom pole, zepellin (Rykote makes good ones - the included foam windscreens don't work very well), a mic shock-mount (the Sabra SMM-1 is handy).

Many of these mics use an XLR connector so if your camcorder has only a 1/8" mic jack, you will need an XLR adapter like those from BeachTek or JuicedLink.

  2. sony, really good brand, have the mics, excelllent!!!
