  1. Montserrat Monastery by Barcelona

    Prado in Madrid

    Alhambra near Seville

    Flamenco Show

  2. Actually, the Alhambra is in Granada, about four hours from Seville, but if you can possibly get there, it's SPECTACULAR!!  (been there three seperate times, and, given the chance, would go again in a heartbeat!)

In Barcelona, Montserrat is a terrific day trip, IN town, you much walk and wander the Ramblas, stop in the Boqueria market, have tapas and drinks at one of the "terraza" restaurants, then turn in to the Cathedral and Barrí Gotic, at the upper end of them.

Also, the Sagrada Familia church...Gaudí's unfinished masterpiece, and if you still have some time, you must get to the Eixample and Parc Güell, to see some other examples of his works, and those of his contemporaries.  Camp Nou is worth the trip (the fútbol field) and Montjuic is worth a trip...tons of different things to choose from there.

The Magic Fountain, at Plaça de Espanya is worth seeing, but it's generally really crowded: watch your valuables.

For Madrid, of course, the Prado, also, the Plaza Mayor, and Palacio Real, Cathedral, other art museums, then you start choosing from things that are particuar interests...there is SO MUCH!

I would take side trips from Madrid, if you can...there are tons of great nearby towns, especially worthwhile are Toledo, Segovia and Ávila.  Tons of other side trips possible.

Sevilla, my old stompin' grounds,  I could give you a billion ideas!  Most important, are the Cathedral, and the Giralda tower, attached.  The Alcázar, and the Parque María Luisa.

Seville is a great place for both a Flamenco Show and a Bullfight (Bullfights are on Sundays and national holidays).

Also a great place to just stroll the medieval streets and take in the atmosphere of truly Moorish and romantic Spain.

Valencia:  I don´t know as well, but I would DEFINITELY take time to do the Science City...it has been reviewed as highly worth the trip.

And all I know of Marbella is beaches.  I'm sure there are beautiful buildings, museums, and churches there, as well.  I just am not the expert on the city.

  3. In Barcelona-La Sagrada Familia, all other buildings by Gaudi /Casa Mila etc/,the Aquarium, the monument of Columbus.and here in marbella you can go to puerto banus, and if u want to go in GIBRALTAR its like 45 mins away marbella to gib...

  4. DE LA SAGRADA FAMILIA

  5. Go to the Sagrada Familia but don´t enter because now they are building it and you will see few things inside. The most brilliant thing to see is outside. But don´t miss the Casa Batlló and La Pedrera both in Paseo de Gracia. You can visit Palau Gauidí near las ramblas, walk also in las Rambas and see all its charme. Visit El Parque Güell a very beautifyl park uphill barcelona. What i can recomend you is to take a doble decker bus and visit the monuments that you think you will enjoy most.

Enjoy Barcelona, i´m sure you will have a great time

  6. In Barcelona-La Sagrada Familia, all  other buildings by Gaudi /Casa Mila etc/,the Aquarium, the monument of Columbus/you could climb on the top of the monument and could see a magnificient sightseeing/,the mountain Monjuick, the park Guel.

In Madrid-Puerta del Sol,Palacio Real,Gran Via blvd,Park de Retiro ,Prado,Rheina Sofia art gallery,The monastery of the carmellitas barefooted.Don t forget to visit Toledo. It is an hour with bus from Madrid.

  7. in Madrid the Palacio Real...or whatever its called, the Royal Palace..it is SIMPLY amazing....i would take a day trip right outside of MAdrid to Toledo...go and see where theyve been making swords forever and you see the strong buff guy doing it..i didnt think he was too attractive..some gurls i went on the trip with did tho....those guys are like mini celebrities in their town for their muscles...also in Toledo visit the Catholic convent and buy bread...you wont be able to view the nuns tho, they hide behind a door....try some wine n cheese tasting too....i loved spain

  8. I lived in Alicante for a while, and have done a little traveling around Spain.  Here's a few suggestions for first timers.

Barcelona - you must see Parc Güell...take a picture on the lizard, say hola to the man in a washington wig playing the chello.  This can take a while to fully explore but worth every second!  The Sagrada familia is beautiful, and worth the climb to see the view.  The olympic stadium can be a quick stop, but pretty non the less.  Las Ramblas, obviously, and the National Museum of Art of Catalunya has beautiful gothic art.  You can spend all day or even an hour or two here.

Madrid - Wow, yeah, how much time do you have?  I also suggest Toledo for a day trip (bring some cash for a handcrafted sword), but in Madrid there is so much to do.  Hit up the Palacio Real, try to see a real madrid game and/or tour the stadium, the centro de arte reina sofia was a smaller museum, some contempory art there...plaza mayor is a must, must, must... maybe ride the metro to puerta del sol and see the bear, the prado is in madrid.  That's worth a day at least..  Theres this amazing club that has like 7 floors if that's your thing, called Kapital.  Many nights can be spent here without you realizing it! Ten cuidado!

Valencia - Let's see, go the mercado central.  Even if you don't buy, go see the fish, the garlic hanging, and all the fruits.  It's free unless you find something, and it's a culture shock right away.  They say the holy cup is in the catedral... even if you dont believe its still my favorte chuch in spain.  Plaza Ayuntamiento is a sight, with small little streets and shops, and churro vendors!  museo de bellas artes was ok, but there are better museums in spain.  The outdoor flea market is always fun.  The big thing in Valencia now is the aquarium.... it wasnt finished when i lived there, but i know people who ave gone and loved it.

hmm, considering that i lived in alicante, i reccommend at least a day trip there for starters.  It's about an hour away from Valencia, but worth it too.  It has the best beaches in Spain, (SAN JUAN), an amazing barrio for night life (which is almost segregated into the Spanish and tourists.  Venture into the spanish barrio for true spanish culture!) La Esplanada is a can't miss because of the beautiful walk, with little hippie booths and mini parks, and don't forget to climb the castle of santa barbara.  The plaza del toros is amazing, and even more amazing to see from the top of the castle.

I won't be much help with seville and marbella, but i hope you have a great trip.  Don't forget to eat pallea and drink some spanish vino!
