  1. LesYeuxCommeLaMer gave a good answer.

My son also liked an aquarium in Monaco and change of guard near the palace (I believe it's at noon every day)

  2. you can get anywhere on the coast within 2 hours. I would suggest a trip to Poquerolles, it's an island with a lot of biking, hiking, etc. I spent a terrific day there.

  3. While I'm admittedly not familiar with Cannes myself, I did manage to find the link for the English version of its official website. I hope it helps. Have a great trip!

  4. Whow! If you are female, don't bring your top. Your kids will get an eyeful on the beach. The  beach is pebble, so bring a mat to lay on. Don't forget sunscreen.

Nearby is Monaco, Nice, St. Tropez, Genoa. Switzerland is not far, some gorgeous lakes in the alps, look it up.

You could make a trip to Marseilles too. Italy has some fabulous sights nearby.

    Keep your wallet close.

If you go inland, it gets to be quieter, you can go horses back, climbing rocks, look at small quaint villages with more history, then the entire USA has. Eat, eat some bread, sausage, cheese, drink wine. They are natural, not chemically produced like her. If you acquire the taste for the nuance, you are going to feel deprived, going back home.

Most important - embrace the different, if you do, your kids will. It's good to have new experiences.

If you are a boater, rent a boat, or get a wind surfer for your kids. There are not to much waves for wave surfing.

Contact the nearest American embassy and ask them, if there are kids clubs for Americans and English in Cannes, if your kids don't speak french.

  5. About a 30 minute drive from Cannes you can find Antibesland and Marineland which are both great for kids.  Antibesland is an amusement park with rides and activities for kids of all ages.  Here you pay per attraction, there is no general admission fee.  Marineland is the French version of Sea World, also with lots of activities and very cool shows with dolphins and killer whales.  Here there is a general admission charge, I think about 25 euros per person.

Marineland and Antibesland are both next to each other.  There is also a petting farm there.  They are inbetween Cannes and Nice, in Antibes.  You can take the train from Cannes or drive.

Have a great trip!  The south of France is beautiful!
