I do not want to travel by tour buses. I'd like to see a few places but I'd also like to just enjoy the place a bit.

  1. Just walk around the city, enjoy the Trevy Fountain, the Colosseum their fantastic piazzas and ambiance...I will be there soon

  2. All the major places are within walking distance. Get a good tourist map. Since you only have one day, I would advise against trying to do the Vatican Musuem/Sistine Chapel because you will spend a lot of time standing in line. You could still check out St. Peters, but I would walk around the forum and nearby since you don't have that much time.

  3. The Colloseum and the Forum, The Vatican, St. Peters Basillica... You want to have at least 2 hours for The Colloseum and Forum and then like 4-6 hours for the Vatican and St. Peters, depending on which tour you do. The best way to travel is just take the metro because it is so cheap and quick. I'd recomend going to the Spanish steps and Trevie Fountain at night because they are all lit up and it is amazing. Just don't forget to throw three coins in for good luck!

  4. I know that tour busses sound bad, but take the Rome tour bus.  It's 13Euro and stops on or around all of the major sites in Rome.  I believe it is run by the city.  I know it sounds horrible, but it really did take me to all the places in Rome you want to see.  You can also travel all around the city for free on the city busses.  They say you have to pay, but I think only the tourists have to.
