Question:

I will be in the Middle East for Ramadan?

Please explain to me how it can be a test of faith to fast when all restaurants and cafes are closed and public eating and drinking are punishable by imprisonment. What does this prove? If it were a real test of faith surely it would be more meaningful if one had to resist temptation as you have to in non-Islamic countries. What do you think?

  1. I don't think that you have all the facts.  You can eat after sundown as much as you want.  Ramadan is not only about fasting, it is a time for Muslims to reflect on their faith, their lives etc, to be kind to all men and spend time with their families.  Rather like our Christmas is supposed to be, or rather used to be before it became a consumer event.

As a non Muslim, you will be able to eat as normal.

  2. using your line of thinking, prostitutes should be flaunted in front of people so they can resist making zina and people should purposely leave bags of money in the street to see if people will or will not steal.  stores are closed out of respect for the month My husband works 7 days a week and during Ramadan he is dead on his feet.   Most people in Muslim countries have the option to be during the day at home and resting due to the fact they are tired from fasting so it is a blessing to be able to take time off during the day when it is Ramadan.

  3. What is the test of faith - that Allah will keep you alive if you don't eat? They must be really frightened of it if they close everywhere like that and imprison people for fulfilling a basic need such as eating. Weird!

  4. lol who told u everything is closed and u get punished for eating in public? At least not in Pakistan. I think u need to go to middle east to find out for yourself

  5. oh--poor girl

  6. LOL, start Fasting with them!!

  7. ask yourself one question "do i have explosives?"

  8. What are you on about, they are open 24/7. This is what i call you have been "Boratized"

  9. even though the restaurants and other establishments may be closed for business during the daylight hours what is preventing you from grabbing a snack from your refrigerator or a glass of water and drinking it in private locations?

the test is still there and as we know the middle east is slightly hotter than europe/most non muslims countries and the heat can make you quite dehydrated which is also another test

  10. It all seems a bit pointless to me, you can just go and hide somewhere if you fancy a nibble, I'm sure most people are intelligent enough to see ramadan as an outdated tradition and not place too much importance on it.

I remember reading in a newspaper about a muslim bloke who was a bit unstable and jumped in a pond with a knife and killed a swan, he was caught by police shortly after with a swan in a plastic bag and feathers caught in his beard.

At his trial his defence said he was temporarily insane due to fasting for ramadan and could not bare the hunger, and the prosecution pointed out that fasting is only during daylight hours so that couldn't have been an issue.

He was eventually found guilty of killing a wild bird and some sort of disturbance of the peace.

The strange thing is that not once was it suggested that any sane person could have just gone into a shop and bought a snickers or something (or whatever halal version there is)

  11. if you not muslim you dont have to fast

  12. lol i agree with you. every religion has these kinds of things to make a religious thing easier.

It's stupid, i used to live in dubai, U.A.E (i'm here now for a visit, going back to canada day after tomorrow thank god lol)

but ya the rules here are retarded. they recently said that couples are not allowed to kiss or show affection in public places like the mall or something.

that's what you get when retards run the country, then again every country has some retards in their government.

Edit: but it's not as bad as you think. i've never heard of anyone going to jail. all the hotels still serve food and everything.

  13. all the hotels and touristic places serve food for non Muslims visitors.

    you are misinformed sweetie.

  14. I suggest not going to the Middle East during Ramadan if you can't handle it

  15. i have no idea what middle eastern country you're talking about. i think you're making things up.

  16. That's not a test of faith. The real test is to be at home alone and the fridge is full of food but you do not eat. But back to your point, most of the muslim countries do not impose restaurant closure during Ramadan. It is just a few. What country are you going to?

  17. You can eat as much as you want after sundown so it isnt much of a fast
