We both have cars so we are willing to stay up to 30 minutes drive from the city centre.

  1. Douglas is nice, lived there for a year or so

  2. Kinsale is beautiful, but if you plan to commute to Cork City, it is too far away to do so on a regular basis.

  3. If you don't want suburbs, have a look at the road that goes west off the N22, from Crookstown to Coppeen. Gorgeous rolling green countryside, yet with the new roads and bypassing Ballincollig, Coppeen is only 30 mins from Cork city, yet it's pure countryside and it's gorgeous.

(the N22 goes from Cork to Killarney, Crookstown is about 10 miles north of cork, on the western side of the N22)

  4. ive lived in glanmire for 20 years, in diferents parts, and a different mix of houses. there's a good choice of houses, plenty of shops and a ten min drive to cork city. its near the tunnel too, so you can get out to the south side of town very quickly too. mahonpoint shopping centre is just through the tunnel too, it has everything you need there, cinema and all, so you can avoid a trip to town if you don't feel like it. glanmire is a nice area though, friendly and nice scenery too

  5. Depends really. If you want suberbs, try Ballincollig or Carrigoline. But i must warn you. Its not cheap! Even renting is pricey! I've been in Cork for 4 years now & its getting more & more expensive to live here. Also accomadation is very sparce since the invasion of Eastern Europe! Jobs are also very hard to come by! If you want any more info, you can MSN me on nikkharison@yahoo.ie

  6. I agree that Cobh is a great place, however, I'd add Kinsale as well.

  7. We have lived in Glanmire in Cork, for 6 yrs and have settled very well, its about a 15 min drive to cork city. Midleton is also a lovely place to live, about a 25 min drive from Cork.

  8. Crosshaven, Midleton, Fountainstown, Ballincollig to name a few

  9. i would say try and live in Douglas or Rochestown

  10. Everyone has given good answers so far, and Cork is a lovely place. You could also look at Cobh - in 1912 this was known as Queenstown and was the last stop of the ill-fated Titanic. It's really pretty.

  11. I agree with a lot of the folks here. I am from Cork City where 15 years ago you could buy a council house for 30k that house is now worth 350k + . I have some friends in the business over there, if i can help point you in the right direction let me know. Suburbs for a bargain are best tho.
