  1. The season generally lasts until April, but sometimes trails into May.  You shouldn't have to worry too much about jellyfish (certainly not box jellyfish) but there's no guarantee.  Even if it's a freak year and the jellyfish are still around the most popular beaches put up jellyfish nets if it's really dangerous.

  2. theres jellyfish most times of year

a light saber should do the trick.

  3. No, its not tropical so box jelly fish are much further north, look at the news & see how many people are in the water including children, they just had the iron man/woman competition their & no stings, its safe as I live in Cairns but we have nets for safety

  4. We don't get box jellyfish at the Gold Coast.

  5. The beaches on the Gold Coast arent affected by box jellyfish at any time of the year, so you wont need to worry about them.

Other marine stingers do affect that area from time to time though, but none of them are deadly. Lifeguards put up warning signs when stingers are in the area. Keep an eye out for them.

But, as a short answer, aside from the fact that it might be getting a little bit chilly in May, you wont have any problems swimming.
