Also, don't forget about your hot water heater...but be sure to turn the heating source off before.

It might not be a bad idea for peace of mind, though not absolutely necessary.  Just turn it off at the wall, not the main.

now what good is that gonna do??

Have a friend come over every  week to run water in the sinks and flush the toilet or else the gas traps will dry out and the house will smell like a sewer when you get back.

Three months is a long time and a small leak could cause a lot of damage. I would go around the apartment and turn the water off, including refrigerator ice maker, washing machine lines if you have one, etc.
