  1. The Hotel Adlon is very famous.  Lots of important people have stayed there.  Including Michael Jackson when he hung his baby out the window.

  2. I would have to say the Ritz would be my first choice then the Marriott, We stayed at the Berlin Marriott for three nights in January 2007 and were very impressed.

Our room was spacious and very well furnished with a good view out onto Potsdamer Platz. The hotel is very modern and staff are friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was buffet style and there is something for all tastes. We liked the fresh smoothies!

Location is excellent for sightseeing and there are some great restaurants nearby. We tried Cancun, Diekmann in Weinhaus Huth and Ristorante essenza; all were excellent.

Overall, we had a brilliant time in Berlin and this hotel added to our experience. Will definitely go back.

  3. Chime ing in--- For what it's worth..

I just get kind of a massive cold steel feeling in the ultra modern new construction of Potsdamer Platz. I like the street scenes and activity over by the Kurfurstendamm  area.

(toward the south central middle part of the park..)

    Personal preference..

  4. My suggestion is the Grand Hyatt Potsdamer Platz. It's in a great location and is actually very nice, if you're going for business or really want the luxury of staying in a luxury hotel.

However, most tourists find it most beneficial just to stay in hostels; they give you a very nice cultural feel and are actually a lot of fun to stay in.

Berlin is a beautiful city. have fun!

  5. These are all great hotels with great management and decor.

I don't have a specific favourite, since when i visit Berlin i tend to go to different hotels and like to vary the destination, rather than focus on the hotel. But a site that you may find useful to reveal the various alternatives, has a lot of images ( pictures and a thousand words ), plus filters to sort star rating, pricing and location.

A couple of 5 stars which you might be interested in are the Steigenberger Hotel and the Palace Hotel, both in the City West.

Often you can get an incredible last minute bargain and upgrade your hotel room on arrival for very little - giving you the opportunity to really indulge in some luxury. Good luck with your plans:
