Have you checked  Alaska Ferries to Bellingham Washington ? Gas is allmost six dollars a gallon..

I take it your in the military. If so your orders and ID card is all that is required.

Driving  across the border you do not need a passport yet.  I would think that your orders would be proof enough of who you are.

When my husband drives the Al-Can he's always needed his passport. Even though you don't need it yet, they give people a hard time when they don't have it. So might as well bring it if you have one.
