  1. The weather really varies around the time of year, the best thing to do is pack layers.

If you wear one really heavy jacket, it could be unseasonably warm, or it could snow!  That is a crazy time of year here weather wise.  Both of those things could happen in the same week!

I would bring long sleeved shirts, maybe a hooded sweatshirt and then a down vest or a light coat to go over that.

You don't want to be overdressed, because the stores will all have the heat going and you will just end up being hot and uncomfortable all the time.

Wear really comfortable shoes with socks that are warm, but not too thick.

You can also bring a hat and gloves, but maybe lighter weight instead of heavy woolens.

  2. Yes, I'd put some sweaters in.

Dress for winter, but not extreme.

    Around freezing temps.

The weather has been so different lately, who knows anymore !

    Definitely not above 50 F

  3. I'll be there, too.  It's hard to say this far out.  I grew up in Connecticut and get back there quite a bit, but in late Nov. and early Dec. you really have to be ready for 30s-40s and never know when it might rain.  A light wool sweater and jacket may be fine, but you should definitely pack something heavier.  I'm going to keep checking the 10 day forecasts the week before I go.  The answer is you just never know:

    November, December

Weather: Expect highs in the 40-50 range in November and 30-40 range in December. It can be freakishly warmer or colder here and there, but it's not likely.

What to Wear: Bring a heavier jacket and leave the shorts at home. If you tend to get cold while standing in front of the refrigerator or browsing through the frozen aisle in the grocery, consider a hat, scarf, and gloves. Bring an umbrella because you still have to walk to and from subway stops and it's much harder to catch a taxi in the rain, so if you're going to be standing around trying to hail one, you might as well be dry.

  4. I agree with Cranky, but I'll add that there is a possibility of snow in November, particularly in late November.  Whatever you wear should allow for the possibility of snow, and of temperatures in the 30s with a strong wind-chill.
