  1. If you've been invited to interview at a medical school, they have already decided that you meet their qualifications to go there on paper.  So you should remember that you've already gotten over an important step.

What they want to see in the interview is something about you that makes them believe you will be a good doctor.  They want to get to know something about you personally.  So the main thing is to be yourself, and to give them the impression of someone who is taking the process seriously and is interested in learning and in what their school has to offer you.  A lot of the questions tend to be variations of "Tell me about yourself" or "Tell me what drew you to medicine" or "Tell me about x*x that I saw on your CV," so  I would be prepared with all of that.  (The joke is that you never say "I just want to help people."  *g*)  If you have something unusual on your CV, be really prepared with that--they tend to zoom in.

Sometimes they ask questions on medical policy or ethics to try and gauge how you respond--my sense has always been that questions like that are less about the exact answer than about how you react.  Don't get flustered by a challenging questions, don't be afraid to think about it, and give as good an answer as you can even if that is "I don't know much about that specifically, but I think I would probably do this."  They are interested in how you think and what kind of person you seem to be.

Wear clothing that is reasonably comfortable for you and which is understated business wear.  Yes, you should look professional, but if you are female, do not show up in very high heels--you will be getting a tour of the campus at some point.  If you're a male, don't try and impress them with your tie.  Whatever your gender, don't try and make them remember your clothes.  Make sure they fit properly.  You don't want to be constantly adjusting your clothing.

Bring a copy of your application and supporting materials.  You probably won't need it, but it's best to be prepared.

Be relaxed as you can, be interested in all parts of the day including anything that may be student-run, and have a great time!

    Best of luck!

  2. preparation for any interview is key.  Anyone you know who has done this before?  Research, research, research.  Better yet, get a list of questions you think they might ask and have a friend ask them of you. Record this "interview" and have your friend do a critique of it. You can see what you look like during the interview. Did you answer properly? Do you look professional? Are you relaxed yet self assured? How do your replies sound to you?  Great way to do an interview is practice, practice, practice...like anything else.  Don't walk in to an interview unprepared. The more prepared you are, the more you practice, the better chances you'll nail it!!!!  Good luck!!!
