I a due to get a pair of gerbils and keep them in my room, unlike my hamster whom I had to keep in a seperate room that had a lock because of my nana. Apparently when she was young she told me that she had a horrible nightmare about mice and rats, and if I even try to talk to her about me wanting a hamster or gerbil, she gets all "oh, nonono!" My nana is VERY stubborn and hard headed, and I don't want to find another way of telling her that I'm going to get gerbils without giving her a heart attack or make her never come visit again.

  1. dont let her know you have gerbils

  2. Ok then...hide them

  3. Explain that you are getting them, but you will keep them in a room, or your room, that she won't likely visit in your house. You don't even have to bring them up!

If your really want to hide them, put them in the hamster room. Just keep their cages far apart. The hamster won't mind. We do that with our hamsters and rabbit. They don't mind each other's company.

Put a large piece of light weight cloth over the cage, and say it's a box. In case she see's it.

The best option is put them in the locked room. Good luck! ^-^

  4. I would say hiding them is a good answer but if she found them it could give her a heart attack. Let your nana know that when you get your gerbils they will be in a certain room in an escape free cage, that way she will not accidently stumble across them.
