I will not say ‘no’ to captaincy, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/IJL-Trott-c1576 – Cricket News Update
England’s premier top-order batsman, Jonathan Trott is happy with his progress in international cricket and believes that he is ready to captain the country if an opportunity presents itself.
The 31-year-old cricketer from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, made his way to the international arena in 2007, when he played a T20 match against his native country at the Oval. However, Trott established himself in Test
cricket in 2009 and since then he has been a permanent member of the English team in Test cricket as well as One Day Internationals (ODI).
Trott has been a prolific run-getter for England in the last three years and has played a huge role in making England the number one ranked Test team of the world under the leadership of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AJ-Strauss-c964. The right-handed batsman averages
52.70 in the five-day version of the sport and 48.31 in ODIs, which are brilliant stats for any world-class batsman.
Strauss seems to be at the twilight of his career and the selectors are keenly looking for his replacement. The left-hander’s opening partner and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AN-Cook-c1026 is the hot-favourite to take up the captaincy once
Strauss decides to call it a day.
However, Trott feels that he has always enjoyed leading a team in domestic cricket and has the potential to deliver the goods as a leader.
"If the right opportunity presented itself at the right time then I'd love to captain the side. I've always enjoyed captaincy and I like to have control over the game where I can," believes Trott.
The top-order batsman is now considered to be a senior player in the team and gives a lot of input in the team meetings. Trott has a lot of cricketing sense and this is the reason why the right-handed batsman thinks that he can lead
the English team to new heights.
The batsman added, "I do feel I'm moving into the next phase of my career with England. Whenever we're in meetings and I feel I've got something to say I'll offer it. I think I have a good feel for the game and the other guys know
that. They know where I'm coming from when I say stuff."
