Liverpool striker Fernando Torres has played down rumours linking him to a move away from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, stating that he would want to see out the remainder of his contract at Anfield.
Torres is considered one of the best strikers of his era but had shown his discontentment with Liverpool following their 7th place finish last season. Things don’t look too good for Liverpool this season, as the side is currently 12th
but the striker has called on the fans to back the club.
Out of favour manager Roy Hodgson has now left the club, with Kenny Dalglish installed as the new coach. Dalglish is a fan favourite and many believed that he should’ve been installed ahead of Hodgson in the first place.
Torres is currently linked to a move to arch rivals Manchester United but the player was quick enough to play down any such speculations.
"More than ever, we need to stick together. We must live in the present, from match to match. We need to add more points, win matches and improve our standing in the table. That is our challenge and I demand the total help of our supporters in doing that.
My head is in Liverpool and on helping save our season. I am professional and I always fulfil my deals,” stated the 26 year old Spaniard.
The player, however, claimed that despite not considering a move, he was still uncertain about the future and it all depends on what the club decides. Torres' current contract runs out in the summer of 2013 with the option of an extension and the striker
claimed he is willing to see that out. Torres expressed the importance of all the supporters of the club and stated that everyone should be behind them in order to turn around, what has been, a disastrous season.
The 26 year old pointed out Liverpool’s success under former manager Rafael Benitez as something hard to emulate and vowed to return to his best in order to help the cause of the club.
