Me, my wife, my young child and my father will be travelling in Switzerland. We will arrive at Geneva airport and then plan to travel to Interlaken where we will do a bit of walking in the area. Should we rent a car to get to Interlaken and around or should we use the train. The train for three adults is quite expensive but the deciding factor will be whether we can park easily in the towns and villages around Interlaken to go off for walks or whether it will be better just to rely on the railways.

  1. Sounds like you do not want to make big trips in the area. Therefore I would recommend to take the train to get there and train, buses and boats to get around Interlaken. The public transport in Switzerland is pretty good and the rides are very scienic.

Parking in Interlaken is ok but you travel in the high-summer-season. Therefore it might be a little more difficult that time even Interlaken isn´t a main tourist spot. Geneva would be more difficult for example.

You will find a lot of information on the official tourist webpage: http://www.interlaken.ch/index.php?id=53...

and might contact them to get helpful answers too.

Happy journey, it is beautiful there. :-)
