I will travel to switzerland to meet a friend, is it possible to apply for asylum there?

my name is muhammad, i was born in afghanistan, helmand, lashgargah, the southern of afghanistan i now live and work in iran but my family are in helmand and now they escaped from that area , helmand is very dangerous terrorist groups/ taliban/ insurgents u know last week 4 british soldiers were killed in a suiside bombing there.

so iran now is forcing afghan citizens to go to their country but afghanistan and especially my region helmand is so dangerous .

one of my friend in switzerland will send me an invitation letter and i will go to visit him...

so is it possible to apply for asylum and not to return?

  1. where are you right now?

    if you are in a western country then no you cannot ask for asylum in switzerland,  because you are already in a safe country. You should have asked for asylum when you entered the country you are currently living in.


  2. You have to hurdle these steps:

    1)  get a visitor's visa for Switzerland

    2)  get past the immigration desk in Swiss entry airport

    3)  bring documents/proof that show your life is in grave danger if you go back to Afghanistan

    4)  convince the Swiss Immigration Bureau that you will be an asset to their country

    If you can pass all the above, then, you can get an asylum

    which is usually granted to people facing persecution, usually political people, in their home country.  Good luck.
