  1. July 2008 hm.... I think Queenstown would be best for July because although it snows but that makes it more adventurous! try snowboarding in the snow mountains, that's why it's called Adventure city!

  2. If you could only do one thing, it would be to visit Queenstown in the South Island.  If you had the time, I would then rent a car and drive to Mt Cook (Aoraki).  This will be spectacular in the winter.

If you could do only two things, visit Rotorua in the North Island for a taste of Maori culture and a geothermal wonderland.

If you could do only three things, visit beaches in the far north of the north island (either coast - both coasts are very different and worthwhile - ideally go up one coast and down the other.  East coast has spectacular beaches, west coast is rugged - try to get to Te p**i (just south of Cape Reinga) to see some amazing sand dunes.)

If you could do only four things, take a tour around the Coromandel Ranges.

  3. It's a wonderful country and it's so hard to name any highlights. If I were you I'd buy the Lonely Planet travel guide. I''ve spent 4 weeks traveling the south island and it was absolutely wonderful! Have fun!

Contact me if you want the address of the coolest hostel on the south island, owned by my aunt and uncle!

  4. 5. you'll be comming in winter so auckland, wellington and christchurch the three major cities.

  6. It will be winter in New Zealand by then.

New Zealand is a wonderful place. There are so many things to do in New Zealand.

Go to Queenstown and do some skiing as their are heaps of ski fields (world class!)

Christchurch is also a lovely city. I've never been there but I hear it is one of the most beutiful cities on the planet! Sounds alright to me.

If you travel to the north island, definitly vist Rotorua. Heaps of volcanic activity to check out around that area. Wellington is also a great city although not too much to do in winter (the place is a summer type destination)

Thanks for the question and I hope you enjoy your time in God's own country!

  7. ahhh the hot springs of course! they are everywhere. and you must get some fish and chips, ask some locals where the best place around is, you won't be disappointed.

  8. This is a very broad question - you probably need to give us more information  i.d.  how long you will be here fore, what parts of NZ you will be in (North or South Island or both), what type of transport you have, if any. etc.
