configuration depends on the use at home

if it is for just browsing and downloading 512 mb ram, duo processor will be sufficient. but now with a little addon u could get a better configuration

intel duo core 1.4-1.8 Ghz

1 or 2 Gb of ram

150-200gb of hard disk\

and a small video graphics from 64mb -128mb

it should be 800$ or less

1) A good processor AMD or Intel (at least 1.5 ghz)

2) At least 512MB of RAM (I would advise 1 GB)

3) At least a 100 GB HD

4) LCD flatscreen

if it is for home use and to go to net

then minimum configuration is only required

processors : AMD or INTEL DUAL CORE(better choose amd sempron 1100+, 800 MHZ)

quality motherboard:asus or nvidia(4 amd) intel orginal or chipset

memory min 256 MB DDR2( better 512 MB)



hard disc memory: minimum 40 GB ( if u plan to store too many films, songs, softwares take 80GB or 160 GB)

speakers, keyboard(logitech, i ball)

lan card(useful for broadband connection)

monitor CRT or LCD( BETTER LCD COZ CRT HAV SOM RADITIONS)

better go for branded!  ACER is low cost start frm 14000 (WITH CRT ) WITH LCD 18000

COZ WHEN ASSEMBELD FOR FIXING MOTHERBBOARD , PROCESSOR EQUAL PRESSURE HAS TO BE APPLIED
