I woke up and my tv has these weird colors on it... [please read]?

I have an older JVC tv [from about 2002] and it has always worked perfectly but this morning when I turned it on, there are 5 colorful circles on the tv. It was big circle than a smaller one in it and a smaller one in it etc. Then the center of the circle the color is normal. Any idea what could be going on?

It sounds like maybe somebody took a strong magnet and touched the screen.  Little kids do this to see the rainbow that the picture makes, my 2-year-old did it with the magnet built into her My-Little-Pony's hoof.  Anyway, you could try degaussing the TV.  It will degauss itself once in a while automatically, but there may be an option to do this in the TV's menu.  This may erase the pattern, or at least fade it.  Unfortunately, strong magnets can permanently damage a screen.  The monitor I am using to answer this question has a big dark blotch right in the center, and there's nothing I can do about it - the metal grid inside there is distorted now, and I will have to get a new one, the degaussing didn't work.

I have had something similar happen with my TV.

It sounds like the tube is going bad, so if you would like to keep that TV, you will need to get it serviced.

It may be cheaper to just buy a new TV.
