on my toolbar at the bottom, it doesn't show the time right (it will say like 16:37 instead of 4:50 am and beside that it says virus alert. I can't correct the time . anyone know what this is? It is very very slow . I have high speed dsl so it shouldn't be so slow. I can't go to some web sites. I am using avast and it doesn't seem to be helping.

  1. Avast sucks. Look into AVG Antivirus, it's known to pick up more files than Avast. Also, make sure to fully uninstall Avast before installing another antivirus system. I would recommend another antivirus, however.

  2. It's a trojan you got and it's malware. Google malware remover and windows has Malwarebytes. l had the trojan???( there's so many of them) and the malwarebytes got them all. Ignore the antivirus solutions it's not a virus or your antivirus would have caught it.

  3. The easiest way to fix it is using Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware (Download it, update it, do a full scan, and remove everything it finds).

I would also recommend the following programs to make sure that you don't get infected again in the future:

    Spybot - Search & Destroy

Avira AntiVir Personal (Better detection rates than Avast)

    Spyware Doctor Starter Edition

  4. Download an run the the following software, delete what ever they find should leave your PC free of infections:

    Malwarebytes: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

    SuperAntispyware: http://www.download.com/SUPERAntiSpyware...

Once you have removed it download Comodo Pro firewall, then switch to Firefox 3 if you are browsing with IE this should stop it returning. (links on my profile)

  5. You must update your Avast virus definition and do a boot time scan.

  6. Download, install and run CCleaner  to clean up old temp files.

Restart your PC in safe mode with networking

Download, install and run a full scan with Malwarebytes

Run a full scan with Micro Trend House Call

After the scans, restart the PC and update your anti-virus, remember to only have one anti-virus installed on your PC

  7. Try using other anti-virus software. You should download updates for your antivirus regularly

  8. Get rid of avast....not very gd. Download Eset antivirus, you get a free 30 day trial and it will get rid of your virus.  Hope this helps :-)

  9. Go into SAFE MODE and run the virus scan a couple of times. Or SYSTEM RESTORE and restore it back a week or two.

  10. Try to scan your computer for spyware. You can find Reviews and free scans at the link below.

  11. Did you recently install Antivirus XP 2008? This is rogue software.

I have been using AVG for years without complaint.

BTW, if your running VIsta, it has antispyware built in.
