This morning I woke up with a sort of cramping growing pain on the sides of my hips and in my back on my hips too. I'm 21 weeks what does this mean? Is it labor cramping pains, or does it mean my hips are stretching out to make room for the baby?

This is my first pregnancy, and I do have a pretty small frame.

please help thank you.

  1. It could be legitimate stretching, but almost sounds to me like baby was lying on your sciatic nerve.

  2. i used to get pains in my hips, too. i was told to sleep with a body pillow between my legs to parallel them. for some reason when you're pregnant if you sleep on your sides too long, you'll wake up with those hip pains and they'll get worse the bigger you get if you don't put something between your knees.

no idea exactly why (sorry), but it's highly likely that's what's happening. if you were miscarrying, you would be in EXCRUCIATING pain, you'd feel it in your lower abdomen and back, and you would feel the need to call 911. the pains would be sharp and there most likely would be bleeding. if the pillow trick doesn't work, or if your pain is severe/gets worse, please go to the ER asap.

  3. A few simple things it could be.   1.  Your hips have got a bit stiff in the night ( getting up and moving loosens the joints )  2.  The baby may have been laying on a nerve ( by getting upright baby was shifted into another position )  3.  The ligaments and tendons are loosening up ready for your pelvis to expand  ( definitely important if a baby is going to fit down your birth canal )  4.  Cramp ( this would have eased once the offending muscles were adequately stretched by walking upright )

I hope this helps....  You will experience all types of niggles and sore spots and cramps.  This is what happens to our bodies when we are preparing for the birth process, also the growing baby is not at all concerned what it lays on or squashes or boots.

  4. Sounds like your baby was laying just right and hitting a nerve.  They do that.  try not laying on your back, because that is when I notice it alot.

  5. Did it go away or do you still have it?

Every morning I wake up with terrible pain in my hips that almost goes to my pubic bone. I literally have to walk it off for 15 minutes until I start feeling better. It's normal - it's just from hormone relaxin loosening your joints for labor.

It doesn't seem like labor pains to me at all.

  6. sound like your body is make room for the baby . if it was labor the pain will not away and it will get worse . hope that help
