I won the European Union Micro Project Award

Question

I have received a mail from European union on 10th of August 2008 in which i was informed that i won the European Union Micro Project Award, also i received the CERTIFICATE OF WINNING from Nigeria. Also they asked me to send my account details and my details to the union bank for the transaction. I sent my details to that bank. In reply to my mail, Yesterday i received another mail from the Union Bank in which they said that my application has been granted and asking me to come to africa to obtain the award prize of US $500,000, In case if iam unable to come over there, they asked me to call the responsible person of that bank to finish off the trasaction on behalf of me..Also i got the certificate of approval for my own personnel documentation, How far it is true?? Can anyone explain me about that?

It's a scam buddy. Do not share any personal info EVER with anyone with whom you are not acquainted.

I hope this is a troll. If it's not, then you're screwed. Did you even bother to check google to see that there's no such thing as the European Union Micro Project Award? Did you wonder why the certificate came from Nigeria when the award was from the EU? Did you even enter anything into this competition? Like I said, this better be a troll.

Go down to the bank as soon as they open and empty out your account NOW, before they do.  If you have to take time off from work do so.

It is a scam!

Talk to the Branch Manager.  Do not close the existing account.  Just take all of the money out (except for the bare minimum) and open a new account.

Next, go visit the local law enforcement people.  If you have copies of the emails/letters take them with you.
