I am from Italy and I would love to teach Italian or Spanish there. I have a degree in Modern Languages and Literature. I passed two exams in Language and Italian Literature at University. Do you think it is easy finding a job as teacher of Spanish or Italian there? I have been teaching English in Italy for fifteen years. Can anyone give me suggestions about the best way to realize my dream? Thank you in advance.

  1. I don't think u need to teach Spanish, the way Mexicans entering USA soon Spanish would be major language in USA anyway. However u can try to find some language schools (or University's language department) who can employ you (to probably teach Italian). I am sure with little struggle u will be able to find work.

    Good luck.

  2. I guess go to the American consulate and ask them for the next step.

  3. You should have little trouble. Be aware that Mexicans speak a somewhat different Spanish than they do in Europe. But the universities here teach European Spanish, so you should be OK.

I suggest putting a resume up on www.monster.com. And to look there for posted foreign language teaching jobs.

Likely your best chance is at a "community college" or a private university.

The public school system will not want you without a US teaching credential, which will take two years of full time study to get.
