I wonder, are the salaries on job descriptions of monster.com or other(i.e 40'000/year) before or after taxes?

  2. Before. There is no way for them to know what your tax situation is beyond what they pay you. If you were married to someone with a six figure salary you would take home a lot less than a single mother with a mortgage and six kids.

  3. JOBS ARE ALWAYS QUOTED AS A GROSS AMOUNT. Always before taxes, as they want to make it look as appealing as they can and tax rates or for the most part what people choose based on their deductions and such. Some people claim the maximum and some claim the minimum, which would vary the take home salary as much as twenty five percent or so.

  4. The salaries shown are always before taxes.

  5. Its impossible to give an after tax amount, since your tax rate could be different then another guy who accepted that same gross amount.  

  6. They are definately before tax.
